Disclaimer: The Group’s consolidated financial statements are prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) as issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (“IASB”), including IFRS 17 (Insurance Contracts) and IFRS 9 (Financial Instruments). These standards govern the recognition, measurement, presentation and disclosure of the Group’s insurance contracts and financial instruments. Ocean Re is rated by leading international credit rating agencies, reflecting the Group’s financial strength, balance sheet resilience, and robust underwriting and risk management practices. We hold an A- Financial Strength Rating from AM Best (since 2014) and an A- Insurer Financial Strength Rating from Fitch Ratings (2025).

These independent opinions provide cedants, brokers, and counterparties with confidence, offering an objective view of capital adequacy, operating performance, governance, and our ability to meet policyholder obligations.

Risk management is embedded across underwriting, capital allocation, financial management, and operational decision-making. Our framework identifies, monitors, and manages risk in line with regulatory requirements, strong internal governance, and recognised market best practice.

Oversight is provided by the Board, supported by specialist committees:

  • Risk Management Committee (RMC), oversight of risk appetite, risk profile, stress and scenario testing, and key risk decisions.
  • Finance & Audit Committee (FAC), oversight of financial reporting, internal controls, audit, and assurance.
  • Nominations & Remuneration Committee (RemCo), oversight of Board composition, succession planning, remuneration, and culture.
